The Allahabad High Court directed on Wednesday that the status quo be maintained until October 5 concerning a piece of land in Dayalbagh, Agra, where the Radha Soami Satsang Bhawan is located.
Justice Manish Kumar Nigam, a single-judge bench, passed the order in response to a petition by the Radha Soami Satsang Sabha, which challenged a demolition order by the Agra administration.
On September 24, a confrontation ensued between members of the Satsang Sabha and the police when a revenue team arrived at the disputed land to dismantle the “illegal” construction. The clash resulted in injuries to several individuals.
It has been alleged that the Radha Soami Satsang Sabha constructed the building unlawfully on “public land.”
When the case was presented to the high court, an amendment application was submitted on behalf of the petitioner. The court approved this application, directing the petitioner to incorporate the amendment into the writ petition.
The state counsel contested the petition, asserting that the building had been erected by encroaching on the land. Nevertheless, the court declared that detailed arguments would be entertained during the next hearing scheduled for October 5.
