In response to recent security alerts, including a hoax bomb threat on an Ayodhya-bound flight from Bengaluru, Akasa Air reported that 15 flights received security warnings, triggering an immediate activation of its Emergency Response Team.
An Akasa Air spokesperson stated on Sunday, “The Emergency Response Team was activated immediately, following standard protocols such as informing regulatory authorities and closely monitoring each situation.”
The spokesperson confirmed that captains and crew on all affected flights adhered to emergency protocols and collaborated with local authorities to ensure safety. Airport Services teams coordinated at impacted airports to facilitate safe deplaning, providing refreshments and assistance to passengers as necessary.
Following the bomb threat call, heightened security measures were implemented at Ayodhya’s Maharishi Valmiki International Airport. The Akasa flight from Bengaluru, carrying 173 passengers, was safely landed, and a comprehensive inspection of the plane, passengers, and luggage was conducted. Airport Director Vinod Kumar reported that no suspicious items were found, confirming the threat as a hoax.
“There was a bomb threat concerning the Akasa flight from Bengaluru, but checks revealed nothing suspicious,” Kumar stated, noting that a similar call was received the previous Wednesday. Akasa Air reassured passengers that their safety remains a top priority.
