Sahil Khan, renowned Bollywood actor and entrepreneur, has petitioned the Bombay High Court for the quashing of the FIR filed against him in connection with the Mahadev betting app case by the Mumbai police.
Khan is urging the court to dismiss the FIR registered by the Matunga Police station, asserting that he was wrongly implicated as a partner in a company related to the case. He seeks a stay on the FIR and requests that no corrective action be taken against him until his writ plea is heard.
Last week, the sessions court denied Khan’s anticipatory bail plea, with the police arguing that his custodial interrogation was necessary due to the extensive probe into approximately 67 betting apps, suspecting fraud running into thousands of crores. In his writ plea to the High Court, Khan contends that the charges in the FIR under the gambling law and the Information Technology Act are unrelated to him, making the FIR against him “illegal, false, and bogus.
