Senior Vice President of the Aam Aadmi Party, Anurag Dhandha, addressed the press at the PWD Rest House in Jind on Friday. He expressed concern for the safety of Haryana’s daughters, citing instances of harassment and misconduct reported previously from Jind. Despite prolonged activism, the government’s actions regarding the matter have been slow. Another similar case has surfaced in Kaithal, echoing the previous complaints.
Dhandha highlighted the deteriorating environment in Haryana, where the safety of children attending school or women going to work is uncertain, emphasizing that the BJP-led government’s “Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter” campaign is merely a facade. Additionally, he pointed out that even the ministers in power have not ensured the safety of Haryana’s daughters.
According to NCRB data, Haryana has become one of the most unsafe places for women across the nation. Reports indicate 2.5 times more crimes against women than in Punjab. These statistics vividly showcase the failure of the BJP government in maintaining law and order, suggesting a lack of effective policing in the state. Dhandha criticized the government’s neglect of the safety of Haryana’s daughters and its failure to address the rising crimes against women.
Moreover, he addressed the suspension order for 372 IOs issued by Home Minister Anil Vij, which was not executed. This lapse questions the functionality of the law and order mechanism in Haryana. Vij’s performance in both the Home and Health departments has been deemed inadequate. The Health Ministry has managed to clear only two files in the past two months out of 2500 pending files. These instances raise doubts about Vij’s capability to fulfill his duties or indicate a heightened power struggle between him and Chief Minister Khattar, jeopardizing the safety of the people of Haryana.
