PASSING OUT PARADE AND VALEDICTORY FUNCTION HELD AT INS VALSURA

A total of 19 Officers from the 12th SSC (X/IT) course passed out from the portals of INS Valsura last week. Commodore Gautam Marwaha, Commanding Officer, INS Valsura reviewed the ‘Passing Out Parade’ (POP) which marked the culmination of 19 weeks of professional training for the Officers. During the Passing Out Parade, the Chief Guest awarded Book Prizes and certificates to the meritorious officers who excelled in academics, sports and extra-curricular activities. Sub Lieutenant Rohit Yadav was adjudged 1st in the Order of Merit while Sub Lieutenant Anshul Sahu stood 2nd in the Order of Merit and also adjudged as the “Best All-round Officer’’. The Commodore also addressed the parade wherein he congratulated the officers and award winners of the passing out course and urged them to strive for higher professional standards at all times.

The Valedictory address for the passing out ceremony was delivered by Rear Admiral TVN Prasanna, Chief Staff Officer (Training), Headquarters Southern Naval Command over video conferencing from Kochi. During his address, the Admiral advised the officers to imbibe the ethos enshrined by the ’Chetwode Motto’ while executing their duties as leaders of men. The Admiral highlighted to the young officers the need to stay abreast with evolving technologies and emphasised the importance of progressing ahead with the ‘IT’ transformation in the Indian Navy. The Admiral also complimented the staff of INS Valsura, who, despite the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, effectively managed to equip all trainees with sound professional skills and leadership attributes.
