Doctors at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai disclosed alarming details regarding actor Saif Ali Khan’s injuries after an attack during an attempted robbery at his Bandra home early Thursday.
Neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange revealed that a knife had stabbed the thoracic spinal cord, resulting in spinal fluid leakage. “Mr. Saif Ali Khan was taken to Lilavati Hospital at 2 am with a documented history of assault by an unidentified person. He had serious injuries to the thoracic spinal cord, with a knife embedded in the spine. Emergency surgery was carried out to extract the knife and mend the leaking spinal fluid,” Dr. Dange told news agency PTI.
Moreover, Dr. Dange highlighted two other significant injuries—one to the actor’s left hand and another to his neck. These injuries were treated by the hospital’s plastic surgery team. He affirmed, “I am pleased to confirm that Mr. Saif Ali Khan is entirely stable now, recuperating well, and is out of danger. ”
Dr. Niraj Uttamani, the chief operating officer of the hospital, disclosed that the actor was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) post-surgery and would be monitored for a full day.
In a statement, Saif Ali Khan‘s team provided fans with updates on his condition, confirming, “Saif Ali Khan has successfully undergone surgery and is no longer in danger. He is currently recovering and the doctors are observing his progress. All family members are safe, and the police are looking into the matter. ” The team also expressed appreciation for the medical staff and thanked fans for their prayers and support.
Previously, Dr. Uttamani indicated that Saif arrived at the hospital with six injuries and required two surgeries to treat them.
In the meantime, Mumbai Police, including officials from the Bandra police station and the Crime Branch, are carrying out a thorough investigation at the actor’s home. Deputy Commissioner of Police Dikshit Gedam verified that a first information report (FIR) had been lodged against the assailant, and six teams have been established to capture the suspect.
