Catherine, Princess of Wales, announced on Tuesday that she is “in remission” from cancer, as relief washed over her after her treatment at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. “It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery,” she wrote on Instagram, with a photo of herself visiting the hospital.
The royal couple, Prince William and Catherine, visited the specialist cancer center where they met patients as well as members of staff. “I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year,” she added in her post. She also extended gratitude to people who had followed the process supporting her and Prince William. She expressed, “We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.”
The royal also disclosed that Catherine and William have taken on the new role of being joint patrons to the hospital on the visit. “I hope that as joint patron, by supporting brilliant research and excellent clinical care while promoting patient and family wellbeing, many more lives shall be saved; and the lives of all the people affected by cancer shall transform,” said Catherine.
The visit was particularly special for Catherine, who marked her 43rd birthday last week. She had earlier announced in March that she was undergoing chemotherapy following a diagnosis of some form of cancer.
