BJP’s RP Singh Questions Canada’s Allegations Against India

BJP leader RP Singh strongly criticized the Canadian government for accusing India of involvement in the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Speaking to ANI, Singh emphasized the importance of evidence-based accusations and questioned Canada’s credibility.

“The court has said that they (the accused) can’t be punished without credible evidence. How can they level allegations against another nation without any credible proof?” Singh remarked, adding that the Canadian court has dismissed allegations made by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government.

Court Rejects Allegations Against India

Documents from the Justice Department of British Columbia revealed that all four accused in Nijjar’s killing are no longer in custody. The accused—Karan Brar (22), Karanpreet Singh (28), Kamalpreet Singh (22), and Amandeep Singh (22)—had been arrested earlier in 2024 but were released due to a lack of credible evidence.

While Canadian police charged them with Nijjar’s murder and conspiracy, no link to India has been substantiated. Despite media speculation, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) confirmed the absence of evidence connecting India to the crime.

India’s Response to Canada’s Allegations

India’s Ministry of External Affairs reiterated that Canada has not provided specific evidence or formal communication regarding the arrests. Indian officials dismissed Trudeau’s accusations as “absurd” and “motivated,” emphasizing the need for credible proof.

Background on Nijjar and the Incident

Hardeep Singh Nijjar, designated a terrorist by India’s National Investigation Agency in 2020, was killed outside a Gurdwara in Surrey, Canada, in June 2023. A video that surfaced in March 2024 described the murder as a “contract killing.”

Strained India-Canada Relations

The allegations have further strained diplomatic ties between India and Canada, with both countries exchanging sharp statements. RP Singh’s remarks highlight India’s demand for a fact-based approach to international accusations.
