Meghan Markle is heartbroken after the death of her dog, Guy. She shared her grief on Instagram, saying she has “cried too many tears to count” over his loss. Moreover, she expressed her gratitude, thanking Guy for “so many years of unconditional love.”
A Special Companion
Meghan adopted Guy, a beagle, from an animal rescue in Canada in 2015. Since then, he had been by her side through everything. In fact, Guy was there for some of her most significant milestones, including her time on Suits, her engagement and marriage, and her journey to motherhood.

No Details on Cause of Death
Although Meghan did not share when Guy passed away or the cause of his death, she focused instead on their cherished memories. In addition, she posted a heartfelt montage of photos and videos, showing Meghan and her family enjoying time with Guy.
Cherished Moments
For instance, in one video, Meghan is seen making jam and speaking to Guy, saying, “We’re jamming, Guy.” Another clip shows Prince Harry running on the beach with the dog. Furthermore, the video ends with Meghan and one of their children singing, “We love you Guy, yes we do.”
Interestingly, Meghan explained that the shelter staff referred to Guy as “the little guy” because of his small and frail stature. This, in turn, inspired her to name him “Guy.” She lovingly called him “the best guy any girl could have asked for.”
A Lifelong Friend
Throughout the years, Guy was with Meghan in both quiet and chaotic moments. As Meghan put it, he was there during “the quiet, the chaos, the calm, the comfort.” He truly played a key role in every aspect of her life.
Guy’s Legacy in Meghan’s Netflix Show
Looking ahead, Meghan revealed that Guy will feature in her upcoming Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. She said, “I hope you’ll come to understand why I am so devastated by his loss,” and added that viewers might “fall a little bit in love too.”
Grieving His Loss
In her tribute, Meghan described how overwhelming the grief has been. “I have cried too many tears to count—the type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them.” Nevertheless, she accepted that this was part of the grieving process.
Finally, Meghan thanked Guy for filling her life with love. “You filled my life in ways you’ll never know,” she said, bidding a heartfelt farewell.
