Gal Gadot Shares Health Scare During Pregnancy

Actress Gal Gadot recently revealed that she had the worst time during her fourth pregnancy, which ended with the birth of her daughter, Ori, earlier this year. She shared on social media the harrowing experience, including being diagnosed with Cerebral Venous Thrombosis, or CVT, a condition where a blood clot forms in the brain. CVT affects about 3 in 100,000 pregnant women aged 30 and older.

She captioned a photo in which she’s sitting in a hospital with baby Ori while holding the little one and sipping coffee. It’s like reflecting on what she’s been through this year. “This year brought profound challenges and reflections. After much deliberation, I decided to share this deeply personal story, hoping to raise awareness and support others in similar situations,” she wrote.

The diagnosis came in February, in her eighth month of pregnancy, after weeks of severe headaches confined her to bed. An MRI confirmed the life-threatening blood clot, prompting an emergency hospital visit. Within hours, she underwent surgery to address the condition. Miraculously, Ori was born amidst this period of fear and uncertainty.

The name Ori, meaning “my light,” held special significance for Gal. “Before surgery I said to Jaron our daughter will be the one that will light the path guiding me through this dark tunnel,” she said. With the adept care of her medical staff at Cedars-Sinai and weeks of rehab, Gal was fully herself once again.

Reflecting on her ordeal, Gal emphasized the importance of listening to one’s body and recognizing warning signs. “Pain or discomfort often signals deeper issues. Awareness is vital, especially for conditions like CVT, which, though rare, are treatable if identified early.” She expressed hope that sharing her story would empower others to prioritize their health.

Gal Gadot, known for Wonder Woman, is married to Jaron Varsano, a real estate developer. The couple has four daughters. She will next appear in Snow White, In the Hand of Dante, and The Runner.
