Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday (December 28) launched an attack on the BJP and Congress, accusing them of trying to sabotage the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) welfare schemes after a probe was ordered into the party’s initiatives.

Kejriwal Criticizes BJP and Congress Over Probe

The Lieutenant Governor’s order for a probe followed a complaint from Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit, which raised concerns over AAP’s proposed welfare schemes. In a press conference, Kejriwal alleged that both parties were working together to stop AAP’s initiatives, especially those aimed at women and the elderly ahead of the Delhi elections.

“The BJP didn’t have the courage to act directly, so they got Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit to file the complaint,” Kejriwal said. “Congress and BJP are joining forces to stop AAP.”

Kejriwal Defends AAP’s Promises

Kejriwal highlighted the popularity of AAP’s welfare schemes, including the promise to provide Rs 2,100 to women and free healthcare for the elderly, which had already attracted a large number of registrations. “These schemes are so beneficial that they made the BJP nervous,” Kejriwal claimed.

The Lieutenant Governor’s concerns included AAP’s Rs 2,100 cash scheme for women voters, claims of intelligence officers from Punjab operating in Delhi, and allegations of cash transfers from Punjab ahead of the elections. Kejriwal dismissed these as baseless and accused the BJP of trying to disrupt AAP’s initiatives.

Kejriwal Urges Support for AAP Schemes

Kejriwal reassured Delhi residents that the welfare schemes, such as the Mahila Samman Card and Sanjeevani Yojna, were election promises and not yet implemented programs. “There’s nothing to investigate. These are just promises we’ve made if we win,” he said, encouraging continued registration for the schemes.

He also alleged that BJP leaders sent “goons” to disrupt AAP’s registration camps, even involving the Delhi Police to halt the process.

Kejriwal Vows to Continue Fighting for Delhi

Accusing the BJP of being “anti-women” and claiming they would make Delhi “unlivable,” Kejriwal promised to keep fighting for the people of Delhi. “If they send me to jail, I’ll go again, but I will keep fighting for you,” he added, urging people to trust in his leadership.

The accusations come as political tensions rise in Delhi ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, set to take place before February 2024.
