RBI Faces Another Bomb Threat, Warning Delivered in Russian

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) received a bomb threat on Friday. This marks the second such incident in less than a month. Mumbai Police began investigating after the threat, sent in Russian, reached the bank’s official website via email.

Police File Case and Investigate

Authorities registered a case against an unknown individual at the Mata Ramabai Marg (MRA Marg) police station. Mumbai Police’s Zone 1 DCP stated, “A threatening email was received on the official website of Reserve Bank of India. The email was in Russian language, warned to blow up the bank. A case has been registered against unknown accused in Mata Ramabai Marg (MRA Marg) police station. Investigation into the matter is underway.”

Recent Bomb Threats in Delhi Schools

Meanwhile, Delhi schools recently faced similar bomb threats. Six schools received threatening emails earlier this week, leading to extensive searches by multiple agencies. On December 9, at least 44 schools were targeted with bomb threats. However, police later dismissed those as hoaxes.

Arvind Kejriwal Raises Concerns

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed concerns about these recurring threats. He emphasized that this was the second such incident in a week. He also questioned the potential impact these threats could have on children.

Emergency Responses to School Threats

The Delhi Fire Services detailed the emergency calls received from affected schools. Calls came from:

  • Bhatnagar International School, Paschim Vihar, at 4:21 am.
  • Cambridge School, Shri Niwas Puri, at 6:23 am.
  • DPS Amar Colony, East of Kailash, at 6:35 am.
  • South Delhi Public School, Defence Colony, at 7:57 am.
  • Delhi Police Public School, Safdarjung, at 8:02 am.
  • Venkateshwar Global School, Rohini, at 8:30 am.

The incidents have prompted heightened security as investigations continue.
