President Murmu hails tribal women’s empowerment during Raj visit

President Droupadi Murmu visited Beneshwar Dham in Dungarpur on Wednesday to meet with tribal women who are members of various self-help groups in the state. In her address, she emphasised India’s commitment to achieving self-reliance, which can only be achieved if every unit of the country is self-reliant.

She commended the self-help groups and their members for their efforts in promoting self-reliance and was pleased to learn that these groups not only provide working capital but also contribute significantly to creating human and social capital. Also said that she was happy to know that self-help groups are not only providing working capital but are also doing commendable work in creating human capital and social capital.

Regarding the Lakhpati Didi scheme, she mentioned that it is transforming the lives of women across the country. As a result, the target number of women benefiting from the scheme has been increased from 2 crore to 3 crore.

She pointed out, “In the past, women were often limited to household chores and were kept behind veils, but today there is no area where women have not reached.”
She emphasised, “Women can become anything they want if given the opportunity and encouraged everyone to believe in themselves and their abilities…The tribal societies have set excellent examples of self-governance and how to coexist with nature harmoniously.

They have shown us how to live a happy life with minimal resources without causing any harm to nature. Additionally, we can learn about women’s empowerment from them.”
CM Bhajan Lal welcomed the President on behalf of Vagad and Rajasthan. On this occasion, he said, “Basant Panchami is the day of Saraswati Puja. PM Modi’s dream is to make its 3 crore women Lakhpati Didi. In Rajasthan, 2 lakh 80 thousand women have become Lakhpati Didi.” Assam Governor Gulabchand Kataria was also present at the ceremony.

President Murmu expressed her confidence in women playing a leading role in making India a developed nation. She further stated that India’s future success relies solely on its strength. Modi’s dream is to make Lakhpati Didi
President Droupadi Murmu visited Mehandipur Balaji before Beneshwar Dham. She is the first President of the country to visit Mehandipur Balaji Temple.
