The three-day International Camel Festival began on Friday with a heritage walk. On the first day of the festival, domestic and foreign tourists participated in this celebration of folk culture.
The Camel Festival started from Rampuriya Haveli. Decorated camels, robes and women dressed in traditional colourful costumes and folk artists participated in the Heritage Walk.
Local people also danced vigorously with folk artists on the Heritage Walk. Besides, foreign tourists were also seen dancing to the beats of ger, kalbelia and drums.
During this time, the tourists were overwhelmed to see the intricate carvings of the havelis on the heritage route. Local folk artists performed folk songs and presented cultural dances along with songs sung during Rammats. (It is a regional musical drama art form that originated in the Bikaner region.)
Besides, a craze for taking selfies with folk artists was also seen among the people. During the walk, the city residents welcomed the guests by showering flowers and decorating rangoli at various places.
During the Heritage Walk, a festive atmosphere was created in the city park. A large number of tourists and local people arrived early in the morning to see the Heritage Walk.
The heritage walk started from Rampuriya Haveli passed through the main roads of the city and ended at Rao Bikaji ki Tekri. Rangoli, Mehndi and painting competitions were organized for the participants by the Tourism Department at Bikaji Ki Tekri.
The winning participants were also rewarded with mementoes.
