The craze among the youth of the state to cross the seven seas can be gauged from the fact that more than 600 coaching centers are providing IELTS preparation across the state. The maximum number of 180 centres is in Kurukshetra, 69 in Kaithal, 61 in Sirsa, and around 30 in Karnal.
Now, the Haryana government is going to tighten the noose on those who send the state’s youth abroad through “Donkey flights.” The intelligence agency has prepared a list of brokers and other individuals involved in this business.
According to the list, efforts are underway to send youth abroad illegally in 18 districts of the state. The highest number of foreign sending agents is in Kurukshetra at 46, Sirsa at 42, and Yamunanagar at 30. Similarly, in other districts, there are 10 to 20 brokers. The department has submitted this report to the Haryana Government. Now, on the orders of the government, a campaign will be launched against these brokers.
The issue of many youths from the state going abroad was also raised in the Assembly.
Opposition parties have accused the government of high unemployment in Haryana, leading youth to seek employment abroad, causing villages to become vacant. In response, the government has formed a special SIT under the leadership of IG Sibas Kaviraj to address cases of fraud occurring in the name of sending people abroad.
Cases are registered only after complaints are received by the SIT, and continuous action is being taken against the accused. The intelligence agency has deployed its teams at the ground level, gathering concrete information about those involved in illegally sending people abroad. In this list, details of old cases registered against brokers and even their properties have been prepared.
It is being reported that colorful dreams are shown to the state’s youth, sending them abroad illegally for Rs 30 to 60 lakh. A senior IPS officer of Haryana Police said that action will be taken against such people by running a special campaign.
The intelligence agency of all 18 districts has also prepared a list of those villages in the state where the maximum number of young students are going abroad. In these, the names of Bhurewala of Ambala, Baradas Naggal, Kalasa of Kurukshetra, Diwana, village Ahun of Kaithal, Sangroli, Sakra, Jadaula, Pundri, Barsana, Rahada, Bamberhedi of Karnal, Rahada, Bandrala, and other villages have been noted.
The agency has also given suggestions to the Haryana government in its report. The agency said that a portal should be prepared by the State Department, and all immigration agents should be registered on it.
Besides, a counseling center should also be set up so that the youth can seek advice from here, and a helpline number should also be issued so that complaints of fraud can be reported at these centers. At the same time, passports should be made free of cost for youth with income below Rs 1.80 lakh.
