There is an older version of me,
Who would be pleased with the new one it would see.
It would see that I have learnt to live in the now,
The older me feared the future and got by somehow.
It would see that I have learnt to say No,
The old me about boundaries did not know.
It would see that I am kinder and more understanding,
The old me failed to see the pain hurtful people were hiding.
The only thing that in both versions stayed the same,
Was a striving to deeply understand life’s complicated game.
