Abhay Singh Chautala, INLD General Secretary and Ellenabad MLA, criticized Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s inadequate measures for girls’ education from families with an annual income of up to Rs 1,80,000. Chautala called for free education in all private and government schools for girls and a 50% fee waiver for those from families earning up to three lakhs. He questioned the authenticity of Khattar’s claim of including 39 lakh families in the Antyodaya Yojana, emphasizing Haryana’s high insecurity among women. Chautala urged the government to address the real challenges faced by the majority rather than relying on misleading advertisements.
He asserted that if the slogan of “Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter” is to be realized, then education for all girls in both private and government schools and colleges in the state should be completely free. Chautala emphasized that considering the current pace of inflation, parents with modest incomes are finding it increasingly challenging to afford their daughters’ education, even with the meager support provided by the government. Chautala stated that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure that the people of the state receive basic amenities such as education, health, security, livelihood, food, and shelter. According to a report from the Central Government, Haryana has the highest number of insecure women in the entire country. If the BJP government genuinely aims to uplift women and girls, it should provide free education along with security for the state’s girls.
Chautala further commented on the disparity in the income levels of the people in the state, where only ten percent of the population possesses about ninety percent of the state’s wealth. He criticized the BJP government for boasting about being number one in the country in terms of per capita income when, in reality, only ten percent of the population benefits from this wealth. Chautala highlighted the contradiction between the government’s claim and the stark reality that ninety percent of the people have only ten percent of the wealth.
Regarding Chief Minister Khattar’s assertion that 39 lakh families have been included in the Antyodaya Yojana, Chautala questioned the authenticity of this claim. He pointed out that in a state with a population of around three crores, approximately two crores fall below the poverty line, which is a matter of shame for the Haryana state. Chautala accused the BJP government of being limited to paperwork and using advertisements to falsely promote the deep-rooted income of the people of the state. He asserted that the BJP government’s actual performance on the ground is zero.
