Dr. Baljeet Kaur, Minister of Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities, held a meeting with the representatives of Kamboj community at her office in the Punjab Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh. During the meeting, Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy, MLA from Jalalabad, along with Kamboj community representatives, discussed various issues related to the Kamboj community.
Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy informed the minister that the Kamboj community has been included in the list of backward classes in Punjab since 1959. He emphasized the need to immediately stop the exclusive survey of Kamboj community being conducted in Punjab and requested that the Kamboj caste be maintained in the list of backward classes as before. Additionally, he proposed the formulation of policies to conduct a caste-wise census in the state, enabling each community to have representation based on population in every sector.Dr. Baljeet Kaur attentively listened to the arguments presented by the Kamboj community representatives and assured them that the demands of the Kamboj community would be considered with utmost empathy. The meeting was attended by Raj Bahadur Singh, Director-cum-Joint Secretary of Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities.
