Unreachable’ RPSC member adds to Congress’ woes

Newly appointed Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) member Colonel Kesari Singh has increased the tension of the Gehlot-led government by becoming ‘unreachable’. The government is trying to contact him, but neither Colonel Kesari Singh’s phone is working, nor are they able to meet him.
CM Gehlot gifted Singh with this new membership a few hours before the code of conduct was imposed on 9 October. But this gift has become a problem for the entire Congress. The Congress high command is also angry over this issue. Gehlot realised his mistake and apologised, however, now he wants Singh to resign to please the high command. While Colonel Kesari Singh has gone out of reach of the entire Congress.
Not returned since accepting the responsibilities.
It is worth noting that Colonel immediately assumed office as an RPSC member on 9 October. However, after that, he left from there. By evening, a viral video related to Colonel started circulating, and the government was in trouble. Since then, the Colonel has been completely missing among the people. Even those close to him do not know where Colonel Kesari Singh is at this time.
The photos and videos uploaded on Singh’s social media page are the main cause of the controversies. Recently, when he reached the society’s meetings, he gave several speeches, where he openly spoke about other castes. This is why the Jat community is openly opposing him. Along with this, Congress is also being warned continuously. Even on Tuesday, during the Jat Mahapanchayat at Birla Sabhaaghar, the demand to remove Singh from his post was raised.
Power of dismissal rests with the President.
CM Gehlot has made Colonel Kesari Singh a member. But now it is very difficult to remove him. If he resigns, the Congress government will be greatly relieved. On the other hand, if Singh does not resign, then it will have to go through a long constitutional process to remove him. The right to remove the chairman of any commission rests only with the President. In constitutional institutions, the appointment of the chairman and members is done easily by the government only on political grounds and caste considerations. This is why, the government is struggling to remove RPSC member Babulal Katara, who was caught by SOG in the paper leak case.
Sanjay Kshatriya, Chairman of the RPSC, said that Singh applied for medical leave and has not returned since the next day. In this regard, he has told the secretary of the commission about being on medical leave via email.
