A police official said on Friday that four people were arrested in connection with the looting of a local jewelry businessman in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district, and that jewelry worth Rs. 30 lakhs was recovered from the accused.
According to the police, the accused committed the crime on the night of May 11 by threatening a businessman, Om Prakash Soni (40), with a knife near the Tewar Talab area within the Bhedaghat police station limits in the district.
Soni then informed the police about the incident, and the officer in charge of the Bhedaghat police station arrived on the scene. Soni told the police that he owned a jewelry store in Garha’s Panda Ki Madiya neighborhood.
He also told police that he had kept Rs 80,000 in cash and jewelry in the bike’s luggage box. Around 9:45 p.m., he was nearing the Tevar Talab area when three people on a bike hit him from behind and he fell to the ground. He stood up to lift his bike, but the accused began fleeing with it.
When the businessman attempted to apprehend him, one of them attacked him with a knife, cutting his finger in the left hand. The accused snatched the bike and fled with it, as well as jewelry and cash.
