Anand Mohan Singh, a gangster-turned-politician and ex-MP who was found guilty of killing the Gopalganj district magistrate, may soon be released from prison after the Bihar government changed the prison regulations to allow the release of the former MP and 26 other inmates.
Meanwhile, Anand Mohan Singh who is out on 15-day parole for his son’s wedding took a dig at BJP and said, “In Gujarat, some convicts of Bilkis Bano case have been released. That too happened due to the pressure of Nitish-RJD.” “I will return to jail after the ceremonies here and when release orders come, then I will call you all,” he added.
The Bihar government announced the release of 27 inmates, including former Lok Sabha member Anand Mohan Singh. 27 inmates who have served 14 or 20 years in prison have been ordered to be released, according to the official notification.
Anand Mohan Singh, the former MP and murder convict, is serving a life sentence in the 1994 murder of then Gopalganj District Magistrate G Krishnaiah. Earlier in November, Anand Mohan was serving lifetime imprisonment in Saharsa jail.
According to report, Krishnayya was killed when his car was attacked during the funeral procession of a gangster Chotan Shukla. Anand Mohan was part of the procession, and Muzaffarpur police had charge sheeted him for provoking the supporters to commit the crime.
Sushil Modi has also raised questions after the Bihar government announced the release of the criminal. He said that the government has amended the law to release many dreaded criminals along with Aanand Mohan.
He said that lakhs of government employees are also scared of this decision of the government. This decision has been taken to take advantage in the elections. This is not right. The Center should intervene in it.
