The border personnel discovered illicit weapons on Sunday during a search operation in Ferozepur, a region bordering Pakistan, the day after unidentified assailants targeted the Border Security Force (BSF) with a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) in Punjab’s Tarn Taran area.

“On December 11, 2022, at about 1215 hrs., Border Security Force troops while carrying out area domination patrolling ahead of the border fence observed freshly dug soil, and during a consequent search of the area, the party recovered weapon consignment near Village — Chandi Wala, District — Ferozepur,” an official statement said.

Two AK-47 rifles, four rifle magazines, two pistols, four pistol magazines, and ten live rounds were among the weapons found.

A low-intensity explosion was detected at the Punjabi Tarn Taran Police Sanjha Kendra on Saturday morning.

Reportedly, the attack was carried out with a rocket-propelled grenade, according to the police. A case had been filed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

On Saturday evening, after learning of the attack, representatives of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) showed up at the Sarhali Kalan police station in Tarn Taran. The authorities said there was a “terror nexus” to the assault.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gurmeet Singh Chauhan of Tarn Taran also informed reporters on Saturday that some suspects had already been interrogated in relation to the event.

Later on Saturday, Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), a pro-Khalistan covert group, claimed responsibility for the assault.

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav observed the attack scene on Saturday and stated, “The Police Subidha Center was damaged by an RPG.” “An FIR has been filed under UAP-A.”

“A forensic team has also arrived at the scene.” “We are connecting all loose ends to reconstruct what happened,” he added.
He said that there is a clear indication of a strategy by “foreign elements” to “bleed India through a thousand cuts.”
“We’ll investigate SFJ’s claim.” We’ll investigate all angles and theories. “Handlers and operators in Pakistan, elements they’re in touch with within Europe and North America, and their links are being probed so that real perpetrators are arrested soon,” he said.
He also appealed to the common people to not be afraid and cooperate with the police.
