Low Budget Activities for Quality Time With Your Spouse

With everything going on in our lives, it can become easy to push relationships and quality time with your spouse to the back burner. However, this can lead to serious issues in your relationship that you might have trouble recovering from. You want to save your relationship while it’s still healthy, so setting aside time to bond with your spouse is extremely important. 

No matter how long you have been together, rekindling your relationship is always a good idea, and it doesn’t have to cost much. A fancy dinner or a night out on the town is fun, but these activities can get expensive, especially if you are saving for a house or vacation. If you’re looking for low budget activities to slow down and enjoy your spouse, look no further. 

Start a Hobby Together

One of the best ways to spend time with your spouse in a meaningful way is to learn together, and what better than to learn a new hobby. Choose something that you both will enjoy and have always wanted to try, then set aside time each week or month to focus on your new hobby. You and your spouse will share a new level of intimacy by trying something you both have never tried before together. By sharing the excitement and intimidation of starting something new you will build a stronger bond. 

Revisit Somewhere From Your Past

Whether it’s where you had your first date or a place you loved to go to before you got married, revisiting a location from your past can help rekindle some of the feelings that led you to fall in love in the first place. You will likely share memories from the past, have some laughs, and even emotional moments. With all of the busyness consuming your life today, you may have forgotten some of the reasons you got married in the first place. It can be fun and therapeutic to take a trip down memory lane and remind yourselves how you fell in love. 

If it’s a restaurant and you don’t want to spend a ton of money on a meal, split a dessert and spend time watching people. You might even see a couple who is enjoying their first date. 

Exercise Together

If you’ve been meaning to start exercising, why not do it together? You can join your local gym, however exercise can look a lot of different ways besides using the equipment at a gym. If you want to start exercising together, find creative ways to do it such as riding bikes, hiking, or kayaking. During good weather, try devoting a few hours once a week to an outdoor activity, even if it’s just taking a walk. This way you’ll not only be getting healthy together, you can also spend the time talking and enjoying each other’s company. 

Cook Together

As long as no one is a control freak in the kitchen, cooking a meal together can be an easy and convenient bonding activity. You have to eat dinner anyway, right? So why not spend the time cooking it together. Pick out a recipe you both have not tried, or recreate something you’ve eaten at a restaurant and loved. If you just want the work of cooking to be simple, choosing something you both already know and love is great too. 

Have a Movie Marathon

With all of life’s stressors, taking a day to just lounge around and watch movies might be exactly what you and your spouse need, and it won’t cost you a cent. You can choose movies you have both been meaning to watch and then discuss how you both felt about it when it’s over. If you want to spend more time talking during the moves, choosing ones you’ve both seen can be fun because you can analyze and comment as the movie is going on without missing much of the plot.
