Space drilled to hide the mobiles
19 mobiles have been recovered from Patiala Central Jail. These mobiles were hidden in the jail barracks by drilling holes in the floors and walls. Jail officers undertook a checking during which these mobiles were recovered. Interestingly, all these devices are old keypads-enabled mobiles. Now investigation has been started as to who all were using these mobiles and where and with whom were they were speaking to?
Confirming this, Bains said that checking is being done to make the jails drug and mobile-free. This is pertinent to mention that these are the same barracks where Punjab Congress leader and former cricketer Navjot Sidhu and Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi are also lodged. Sidhu is serving one-year imprisonment in the road rage case. At the same time, Daler has been imprisoned for three years in the human trafficking case.
Meanwhile, the jail administration has arrested Vini Tank, assistant superintendent of Faridkot jail. 78 grams of heroin were recovered from him. He had hidden this heroin inside a file kept in eight packets. When his car was searched, 67 thousand cash and four mobiles were also found.
