Since the Model Code of Conduct has been imposed following the announcement of forthcoming parliamentary polls, all political factions are leaving no stone unturned to prove their mettle in a bid to emerge victorious in the elections. Ahead of the polls the state is witnessing a pendulum swinging and conflicting perceptions and the bigwigs from ruling and opposite factions are on toes to contest the elections successfully. So far the ruling BJP has declared its candidates on 6 Lok Sabha seats while the Congress-Aam Aadmi Party, as a part of the alliance, has fielded Sushil Gupta on Kurukshetra seat while the Congress, the main opposition party in the state has been remain undecided on 9 seats in terms of finalisation of contestants. Among the party candidates fielded by the BJP are Banto Kataria, Ashok Tanwar, Dharamvir Singh, Manohar Lal , former Chief Minister, two of the Union Ministers of the state namely Rao Inderjeet and Krishan Pal Gurjar from Ambala, Sirsa, Bhiwani Mahendergarh, Karnal, Gurugram and Faridabad constituencies. Similarly, the Congress is mostly likely to field its stalwarts in a bid to defeat the BJP.

Amidst this, it is pertinent to mention that several big shots from the Congress and the BJP have succeeded in emerging victories after the shifting of their parliamentary seats. The Stalwarts including Rao Inderjeet, Arvind Sharmao and Kumari Selja from the saffron BJP and the Congress respectively hoisted the flag of victory even by changing seats . Despite changing seats, all contested the polls successfully. Rao Inderjeet has marked three consecutive victories on Gurugram seat and seeking victory for the fourth time from Gurugram on the ticket of the BJP . In 2019, he defeated his arch rival Captain Ajay Yadav of Congress by around 4 lakh votes from Gurugram seat remaining invincible on Gurugram seat. Rao Inderjit Singh won the last lok sabha polls from Gurugram in Haryana and was given a berth in cabinet aa Union Minister of State with independent charge.

He has been victorious five times in Lok Sabha polls-thrice from Gurugram while twice from Mahendergarh seat. In the delimitation of 2009, the Mahendragarh seat of Haryana was abolished and a new seat, Gurugram, was created in its place. Congress fielded Rao Inderjit from this new seat and he became MP by defeating Zakir Hussain of BSP by 84864 votes. In 2014, seeing the Modi wave, Rao Inderjit quit Congress and joined BJP a month before the elections. BJP gave him a ticket from Gurugram and this time he reached Parliament by defeating his rival Zakir Hussain on INLD ticket by huge margin of around 3 lakh votes in 2019.

Similarly, Arvind Sharma who contested the Lok Sabha election successfully from the Rohtak seat defeating Deepender Singh Hooda of Congress in 2019 has faced the debacle with a huge margin against the BJP candidate Ashwani Chopra in 2014. Seeing the political atmosphere in favor of BJP before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Arvind Sharma bid a farewell to the Congress and joined the saffron party. BJP fielded him against Deepender Hooda in Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s stronghold, Rohtak and He succeeded in winning the polls with a small margin of 7503 votes.Since, the BJP has been remained undecided on Rohtak seat in terms of the finalisation of the candidates, everyone is eyeing the declaration of possible candidate on the seat.

Similarly Congress big shot Kumari Selja who is at loggerheads with the party heavyweight Bhupender Singh Hooda for a long time over the battle of dominance and political survival with in the party, had contested the first Lok Sabha elections successfully in the year 1991 from Sirsa seat.

In 2009, Congress changed his seat and fielded her from Ambala seat where she defeated Ratanlal Kataria of BJP. In 2014, instead of fielding Selja in the Lok Sabha elections, Congress sent him to the Rajya Sabha. In 2019, Congress again fielded Selja from Ambala but this time she could not survive the polls and lost to BJP’s Ratanlal Kataria by 342345 votes.
