Amit Sharma, Secretary Information Technology, Administration of UT of Ladakh, took center stage as the Guest of Honour at the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) 6th edition of the Summit on the Internet of Things (IoT) held in New Delhi today. The event, attended by industry leaders and top corporate executives, witnessed insightful discussions on the future of IoT innovation.

In his address during the Inaugural Session, Sharma emphasized the transformative potential of innovation through seamless integration, stating, “I envision a future wherein the IoT nexus transforms lives and landscapes. Let’s pioneer new pathways to prosperity and progress and make the best blend of the IoT nexus to propel our region into the digital age by connecting devices, data, and dreams to build a smarter, more sustainable future.”
Sharma highlighted that IoT technologies, encompassing devices like Alexa, Smart Watches, Smart Phones, AR-VR, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Industrial and Agricultural devices, represent the new norm in today’s ever-evolving technological landscape. He emphasized the need for continuous adaptation to remain relevant in the face of rapidly advancing IoT-based innovations.

Furthermore, Sharma extended invitations to IT and ITES-related industries to establish plants in Ladakh, focusing on investments in electronics manufacturing and emerging technologies like IoT, AI, and Cloud and Data Center. This call to action aligns with Ladakh’s vision of becoming a hub for cutting-edge technologies, with plans for the establishment of an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster under the EMC 2.0 Scheme.

The inaugural session featured addresses by esteemed dignitaries, including Prof Ashutosh Sharma, Former Secretary of the Ministry of Science & Technology and President of Indian National Science Academy, Dr. Rishi Bhatnagar, President of Lava International, Mr. Dilip Sawhney, Managing Director of Rockwell Automation, and Mr. Jasmeet Singh from the World Economic Forum, among others. The presence of subject specialists and policymakers underscored the significance of IoT innovation in shaping India’s digital future.
