Chandigarh police gears up to celebrate Holi peacefully

Chandigarh Police has made special arrangements to celebrate the Holi festival peacefully. To avoid any untoward incident and maintain law and order in the city, around 1000 police personnel will be deployed throughout the day from March 24 to 25 to keep an eye on miscreants.

Sumer Pratap Singh, SSP Traffic, said that special duty of traffic police has been imposed in the city. For this, a total of 102 checkpoints will be set up at different places in the police station area at different times. Blocks will also be deployed on the outer border. The police will take strict action against those who drink and drive and create a ruckus in the city.

Patrolling of PCR vehicles will be intensified around Girls Hostel, Panjab University. Special Cheetah motorcycles will be active around hostels 11, 17, 22, 20, and other institutions. There will be a limited vehicle zone on Colony area 11/12 T to Gedi route and Sector 9/10, Chandigarh. It is also being implemented in the busy markets of Sukhna Lake, Elante Mall, Sector 15. Blocks will be set up near all important roads and light points in the city to check drunken driving. Special attention will also be given to colonies and slum areas.

A special campaign will be launched to curb hooliganism, drinking, and molestation in public places. Chandigarh Police appeals to the general public to celebrate the festival of colors with love and brotherhood. Furthermore, the general public is advised to avoid indulging in any kind of hooliganism, violence, and especially drunk driving as traffic violations.
