Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) announced the names of five candidates for Uttarakhand in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections on Tuesday.

BSP has nominated Neem Chandra Chhuriyal as its candidate for Tehri Garhwal, and Dhir Singh Bisht will represent the party in Pauri Garhwal.

The BSP has additionally selected Narayan Ram for Almora, and Akhtar Ali Mahigir has been chosen as the candidate for Nainital Udham Singh Nagar. Jamil Ahmed is slated to run for the Haridwar Lok Sabha seat.

With this declaration, the BSP has now announced a total of 30 candidates.

Hours after unveiling its initial list of 16 candidates from Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha elections, BSP on Sunday issued its second list.

The party’s second list showcased nine candidates.

The Mayawati-led BSP has nominated Hembabu Dhangar for Hathras, Kamal Kant Upmanyu for Mathura, Pooja Amrohi for Agra, and Ram Niwas Sharma for Fatehpur Sikri.

In contrast to the 2019 elections, when it formed an alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), this time the party is contesting the elections independently. The Lok Sabha polls are scheduled to take place in seven phases starting from April 19.

Uttar Pradesh, which has the largest number of MPs, 80, in Parliament, will participate in voting across all seven phases. The counting of votes is scheduled for June 4.
