Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was adamant on the demand to replace the Advocate General and DGP of the state for a long time, finally took over again as President on Tuesday.

Interacting with reporters, after taking charge he thanked the union Government for opening the Kartarpur Corridor. He said that a platform should be made for the devotees at Dera Baba Nanak, so that who could not go to Kartarpur Sahib might have ‘darshan’ of Gurdwara Sahib from the platform.

At the Punjab Congress Bhawan, here, party’s Punjab affairs in-charge Harish Choudhary was also present along with other leaders when Sidhu took charge. Chief Minister Charanjit singh Channi reached the venue after some time and congratulated Sidhu. After this there was a long meeting between Sidhu and Channi, in which Harish Chaudhary was also present.

Navjot Sidhu had resigned from the post of President in protest against the appointment of Advocate General and DGP. After this, the dispute between Sidhu and Channi also deepened, but after the intervention of the high command, Sidhu withdrew his resignation on the condition that the AG and DGP of the state would be changed.

On this issue, resignation of AG Deol was acceptted, while it was also announced by the CM that after getting the panel from the center for the post of DGP, new appointment would be done. Although in the press conference after takng charge, Sidhu again raised the issue of economic condition of the Channi government, but he also said that the law and order in the state is completely fine except the issues of sacrilege, BSF and drugs.

He also said that most of the issues are related to the income of the government, for which a plan has been prepared, would will be disclosed later. He claimed that Congress would do better than before in coming Punjab assembly election and again form the government in the state.
