Zomato has raised its platform fee for food delivery to Rs 10 per order during the festive season, up from Rs 7, as indicated on the company’s app based in Gurgaon.
The platform fee, initially introduced in 2023 at a flat rate of Rs 2 per order, has seen several increments since then. Zomato’s competitor, Swiggy, was the first to implement this charge and has also increased its fee to Rs 7 over time.
According to a notification on the app, the fee helps cover operational costs and ensure continued service during the busy festive period: “This fee helps us pay our bills to keep Zomato running. To maintain services during the festive rush, it has increased slightly.”
The platform fee is an additional charge applied to each food order, distinct from restaurant prices, delivery fees, and goods and services tax.
