After spending three days on road in the car, Sukhman Kaur with her infant is forced to charge her phone from the house of her Chandigarh-based friend. She left her kids at her friend›s home. Lakhs of people in Mohali and Zirakpur are currently facing a blackout-like situation. Due to the fire at the 66 KV sub-station in Mohali on Tuesday evening, where there is no electricity in many areas for the last 48 hours, two power towers collapsed due to the storm which hit Mohali on Wednesday evening. Due to this, there is a power failure in more than 100 colonies. Work is being done on a war footing at both places. The power supply may be restored by Friday. Netizens are cursing Punjab State Power Corporation Limited for this gross negligence.

There is no light in Mohali and Zirakpur for the last 48 hours. People living without electricity in both the places are facing a lot of trouble. Due to the lack of electricity, there has also been a severe drinking water crisis in many places. The reason for this power supply creaking in Mohali and Zirakpur is due to fire and thunderstorm.

Due to the fire at 66 KV sub-station in Mohali on Tuesday evening, the power supply from here has been completely stopped. Maintenance work is being done here on a war footing by the Electricity Corporation. Officials say that the maintenance work will be completed by Thursday night or Friday morning, but still, there›s no sign of respite. At the same time, two towers of the 66 KV high tension line, which supplies electricity to the sub-station located on Patiala Road in Zirakpur, have collapsed due to the storm. Due to this all the feeders of this sub station were closed.

In Zirakpur, Powercom SDO Pradeep said that, feeders at some places are being run by connecting them to other powerhouses. At the same time, efforts are being made to erect the tower, although it will take time.

Until these towers are erected, the power supply cannot be fully restored. Due to the fall of these towers, the supply has to be cut in the area connected with the Dhakauli sub-station, as it is not affected much.
