Zawe Ashton roped in to play villain in ‘Captain Marvel 2’

Washington [US], February 13 (ANI): The upcoming film ‘Captain Marvel 2’ has found its villain in actor Zawe Ashton. The star is set for an on-screen face-off with actor Brie Larson’s character Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel.
As per Variety, Ashton has been cast in the forthcoming film and will go toe-to-toe with Larson as the sequel’s antagonist. The Marvel movie is being directed by Nia DaCosta from a script by Megan McDonnell, a story editor on the Disney Plus series ‘WandaVision’.
It is unclear who exactly Ashton is playing in the film, though sources revealed that it will be the main villain. Along with Larson, the cast will include Iman Vellani, reprising her role as Ms. Marvel from the upcoming Disney Plus series of the same name, and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau from ‘WandaVision’.
The rest of the details about the upcoming film are being kept under wraps. It is slated to hit the theatres on November 11, 2022.
The upcoming film is a follow-up to the 2019 blockbuster titled ‘Captain Marvel’. The movie broke ground as the first entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to spotlight a female superhero. It became a massive commercial success, grossing more than USD 1.1 billion at the worldwide box office. The original film, directed by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, takes place in the ’90s and focuses on Captain Marvel’s adventures as the Earth gets caught in an intergalactic conflict between two alien civilisations.
The next installment will reportedly take place in the present day. Meanwhile, Ashton is widely known for Netflix’s art satire ‘Velvet Buzzsaw’, in which she starred alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.
She also appeared in the Broadway revival of ‘Betrayal’ with Tom Hiddleston. Her other credits include the TV series ‘Fresh Meat’, Tom Ford’s thriller ‘Nocturnal Animals’ and the psychological horror film ‘Greta’. (ANI)

Kim Kardashian’s fan attempts to crash through her Hidden Hills gate

Washington [US], March 1 (ANI): An alleged trespasser crashed through the gate of the American reality TV star Kim Kardashian’s Hidden Hills community on Wednesday last week.
According to TMZ’s exclusive report on Monday, a man who called himself Kim’s ‘ex’ tried to get inside her house in order to catch a glimpse of the star.
Law enforcement sources told that the incident happened around 6:30 pm on Wednesday, when the 24-year-old man breached the main entrance gate in an effort to track down Kim at her Hidden Hills home.
TMZ reported that the security managed to stop the man before he could get near the ‘KUWTK’ star, and the Sheriff was called.
After being caught, the man claimed himself to be an ex-husband of Kim and told the law enforcement that he was going to meet her.
However, the Sheriff cited the guy for trespassing and he was released. (ANI)

Alec Baldwin welcomes 6th child with wife Hilaria

Washington [US], March 1 (ANI): Hollywood star Alec Baldwin welcomed his sixth child with wife Hilaria Baldwin on Monday, just months after their youngest son was born in in September 2020.
The 62-year-old actor’s spouse took to her Instagram handle and shared a picture that she said was clicked by him. The picture showed her lying in bed with her 6 children, including the newborn whose name or gender has yet not been revealed.

The star captioned the photo “7” with a red heart emoji. This new addition to the Baldwin family comes months after Hilaria gave birth to their son Eduardo “Edu” Pao Lucas in September 2020.
As per People magazine, the couple share sons Edu, Romeo Alejandro David, Leonardo Angel Charles, and Rafael Thomas, along with a daughter named Carmen Gabriela. Alec is also dad to his 25-year-old daughter Ireland. (ANI)

Sacha Baron Cohen’s wife Isla Fisher elated on husband’s Golden Globe wins

Washington [US], March 1 (ANI): Australian-Scottish actor Isla Fisher and also the wife of Sacha Baron Cohen, who was among the key winners at the 2021 Golden Globes, did not hide her joy while seated next to him during the awards’ acceptance speeches.
During the awards ceremony on Sunday (local time), the married couple of 11 years appeared on-screen together, while the ‘Borat Subsequent Moviefilm’ actor accepted the trophies for Best Musical or Comedy and Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.
Isla displayed her huge smile as she cracked up throughout both of her husband’s acceptance speeches. Naturally, Sacha included a sweet shout-out to his wife and said, “Most of all, thank you to my incredibly patient wife, Isla, who has put up with all my madness.”
Indeed, both of Sacha’s presentations were filled with his signature quips, including name-dropping Rudy Giuliani, who made a cameo in the film in a controversial scene that involved the politician briefly putting his hand down his pants. Rudy has decried the scene as a “complete fabrication.”
As per E! News, Isla has been supportive of Sacha since his movie’s October release. In December, she told Jimmy Kimmel that she gets very invested in her husband’s projects and that there was an omitted scene in the Borat sequel she loved so much that she even threatened not to speak to Sacha if it didn’t make it back into the film. Alas, it stayed on the cutting room floor, but thankfully, Isla understood. (ANI)

Washington [US], March 1 (ANI): Amid reconciliation rumors, American actor Gillian Anderson sparked the buzz of getting back with ex-beau and ‘The Crown’ creator Peter Morgan while delivering her victory speech at the Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday (local time).
Anderson accepted the award of ‘Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Supporting Role’ for her captivating performance in Netflix’s insanely popular period drama ‘The Crown’.
According to Page Six, the 52-year-old actor sparked the rumors that she and her ex-beau and producer Peter Morgan are back together after breaking up in late 2020.
While delivering her victory speech for Best Supporting Actress for portrayed British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the fourth season of ‘The Crown’, she said, “Oh my God. Firstly, thank you very much to the Hollywood Foreign Press and to my fellow nominees and to Peter Morgan for imagining that I could inhabit Mrs. T.”
“And to Nina Gold, casting director who believed him or visa versa, however, it worked. To Peter Morgan for writing an exquisitely multidimensional character against the odds,” she added.
The rumors of their patch-up began the talk of the town in 2021 while her reports of them staying together in the Czech Republic broke in. As per the sources, “Peter is staying with Anderson in the Czech Republic while she films her new movie, “White Bird: A Wonder Story.”
Page Six confirmed Anderson and Morgan split in December 2020 after four years of being together.
Anderson married Canadian production designer Clyde Klotz in 1994 and had a divorce in 1997. Later she married film producer Julian Ozanne in 2004 and split with him later in 2007.
Meanwhile, Netflix’s insanely popular period drama ‘The Crown’ also won in the best drama television series category at the 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards.
British actor Josh O’Connor also won the Golden Globe award for his portrayal of ‘Prince Charles’ in the Netflix drama ‘The Crown’.
The fourth season of ‘The Crown’ covered the time span from 1979 to the early 1990s and it included Margaret Thatcher’s tenure as prime minister and Lady Diana Spencer’s marriage to Prince Charles.
Earlier in the 2021 Golden Globe ceremony, actor Emma Corrin, the breakout star of the fourth season of Netflix’s insanely popular series ‘The Crown’, took home the award for best actress in a television series at the award show.
The 78th Golden Globe Awards is taking place nearly two months later than normal, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on cinema and television.
This is the first bi-coastal ceremony, with Tina Fey co-hosting from the Rainbow Room in New York City, and Amy Poehler co-hosting from The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
The nominees for Golden Globes were announced on February 3 and Jane Fonda and Norman Lear were announced as the recipients of the Cecil B. DeMille Award and the Carol Burnett Award, respectively. (ANI)

Taylor Swift calls out Netflix’s ‘Ginny and Georgia’ for ‘deeply sexist joke’ about her

Washington [US], March 1 (ANI): American singer and songwriter Taylor Swift recently fired back at Netflix’s ‘Ginny & Georgia’, criticizing the show for a line in the script that was a “deeply sexist joke” about her.
According to E! News, the tenth episode of the new series featured a scene where a female character tells another woman, “What do you care? You go through men faster than Taylor Swift.”
Not long after, the word got back to Swift, and “Respect Taylor Swift” started trending on Twitter.
The Grammy winner tweeted, “Hey Ginny & Georgia, 2010 called and it wants its lazy, deeply sexist joke back.”
She added, “How about we stop degrading hard-working women by defining this horse s–t as FuNnY.”
Swift, who released her documentary Miss Americana on Netflix last year, had a few words for the streaming service, too. “Also, @netflix after Miss Americana this outfit doesn’t look cute on you,” she wrote. “Happy Women’s History Month I guess.”
After reading her response, several of Swift’s fans praised the artist for speaking out. One of her followers tweeted, When Taylor Swift stands up for herself she’s also standing up for all women across the world.”
“She is done with the misogyny & the slut shaming. I’m so proud of her for standing up for herself & leaving no words unspoken. still cannot believe this is still happening after years, YEARS of it before…RESPECT TAYLOR SWIFT,” tweeted another follower.
As per E! News, this isn’t the only Netflix series to come under fire by the singer’s fans. Swifties also slammed ‘Degrassi: Next Class’, as the show featured a scene in which a character said, “Taylor Swift made an entire career off of her exes.” (ANI)

The 24-year-old, who bagged the prestigious accolade with her astonishing acting skills, left no stone unturned to woo her fans with her magnificent look, accompanied with her ‘chess-inspired’ manicure.

People magazine reported that Anya, who played Beth Harmon in the seven-part series, stunned in a custom emerald Dior Haute Couture gown and Tiffany & Co. jewels, dressed by celebrity designer Law Roach.
Not this, but what made her hog the limelight, was her unique checkered-print nail art, that she topped off to reflect her orphan-turned-chess prodigy.

Gushing over her look, fans of the budding star made her look viral on the internet, while more detailed snaps of the look are still awaited from the star.

Taylor-Joy’s role in ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ follows her meteoric rise through the chess world in the 1950s and ’60s America as she becomes one of the fiercest players in the game.
Taylor-Joy was up against fellow nominees Cate Blanchett for ‘Mrs. America’, Daisy Edgar-Jones for ‘Normal People’, Shira Haas for ‘Unorthodox’ and Nicole Kidman for ‘The Undoing’.
Accepting the award, Taylor-Joy said, “I would love to thank Netflix and the HFPA (Hollywood Foreign Press Association) of course. Thank you for letting us make this show that we wanted to make. Our beautiful cast, our beautiful crew thank you so much.”
Taylor-Joy had also earned a Screen Actors Guild Awards nomination. The series is based on Walter Tevis’ 1983 novel of the same name. ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ focuses on the fictional character Beth Harmon, a teen chess prodigy who takes on the best players in the world.
