In a disturbing incident echoing a recent tragedy in Ramgarh, Samba, another youth narrowly escaped a gruesome attack in Vijaypur, Samba, where unknown assailants chopped off his fingers. The incident took place days after the shocking killing of a 25-year-old, Akshay Kumar, in Ramgarh, where the perpetrators brazenly livestreamed their heinous act on Instagram.
The recent victim, Devinder Singh, a newspaper hawker, fell victim to a sharp-edged weapon near 17 Miles in Vijaypur during the early hours of December 30. Despite having his fingers mutilated, Singh managed to escape the murderous attack. The swift response from the Samba Police resulted in the arrest of one of the attackers identified as Hasham Ali, alias Billa, a resident of Pekhri tehsil, Vijaypur.
A spokesperson for the Samba Police disclosed, “The arrested accused has been identified as Hasham Ali alias Billa, son of Mohd Latief, resident of Pekhri tehsil, Vijaypur district, Samba.” The police registered an attempt-to-murder case (FIR No. 191/2023) under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act. The arrested individual was identified by the injured party, Devinder Singh, and the investigation is ongoing.
This incident comes in the aftermath of a horrifying occurrence in Ramgarh, where the assailants streamed their brutal act on Instagram, showcasing a lack of fear for law enforcement. The killers, identified as Abbu, Shunnu, and an associate named Shikku, not only took the life of Akshay Kumar but also carried away his mutilated hand, all broadcasted in a bold six-minute Instagram Live session. Despite police efforts, including tracking the ‘Abbu Jatt’ Instagram account, the culprits remain at large, leaving authorities clueless about their whereabouts.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh, assured the public of ongoing efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice. He stated, “One hundred sixty-four hardcore criminals involved in heinous crimes, including murders and attempts, have been arrested in Samba district in the past eleven months. Stringent action under the law is being taken against miscreants and ‘gunda’ elements in the district.” The commitment to maintaining law and order in the region remains a top priority for the police, who are actively working to ensure the safety of the public.
