The death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput has brought back the nepotism debate. Actor Shivin Narang, known for popular TV show Beyhadh 2, while speaking exclusively to The Daily Guardian, said that nepotism existed but it was not limited only to the entertainment industry.

“Yes I believe nepotism exists, favouritism exists! Not only in Bollywood but it’s everywhere. But, I feel our media is equally responsible for this. If you see any star kid, so many people want to interview them, there are always so many paparazzis around them, and so much is written about them since the beginning that they become famous for no reason,” Shivin said

The actor believed nepotism is not wrong but snatching away someone’s opportunity for selfbenefit is. “So far I have not faced anything like nepotism, but I have seen it happening around me. And I don’t think there’s anything bad in it. My dad would have done the same thing for me. However, if people are intentionally blocking someone that is a bad thing. But if someone wants to invest in their family, friends or relatives, I don’t think it’s bad at all,” he said.

He also emphasised on issues of mental health and said that these topics should be included in school syllabus for its awareness among children at an early age. “I think this is something that should be taught since the beginning, like from school onwards. I don’t remember being taught anything like this. It should be included in the syllabus since childhood, everything from the symptoms to how to cope with it.”
