Ex-Pentagon official Michael Rubin slammed Pakistan army chief Asim Munir for his 'nuclear threat' remark made during a US visit. he linked Asim to Osama bin Laden.
Rubin told ANI, “Pakistan's threats on American soil are completely unacceptable.” he added, “The Field Marshal's rhetoric is reminiscent of what we heard from Osama Bin Laden…Asim Munir is Osama bin Laden in a suit.” He explained that 'Americans look at terrorism through the lens of grievance' and often fail to understand 'the ideological underpinnings of many terrorists'.

During an event in Tampa, Florida, Pakistan Army Chief reportedly quoted, “We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we'll take half the world down with us.” Rubin also criticized the US military officials for listening to this statement and not walking out of the meeting. He stated that their failure to do so is a reason for resignation
Rubin emphasized that Asim Munir, along with any other Pakistani official, should not get an American visa until the nation explains itself and provides an apology. He also urged that Pakistan should be taken off its 'major non-NATO ally' status, as it acts as a state sponsor of terrorism, and removed from the US Central Command.

Ministry of External Affairs said that Asim Munir's remarks spread doubts of Pakistan's nuclear command and control. The MEA further stated that it is unfortunate that such remarks are made from the soil of a friendly third country.
“India has already made it clear that it will not give in to nuclear blackmail. We will continue to take all steps necessary to safeguard our national security,” mea stated.
