Family’s Search and Concerns

Anderson’s aunt, Monica Tucker, told NBC affiliate WXIA that he had traveled to Florida to meet a man he had been speaking with online. When he didn’t return, family members drove to Jacksonville to investigate.

They met the man Anderson had planned to see, but Tucker said his story kept changing. “First, he said he didn't see him. Then he said he went to the hotel to watch movies. And then he says he took them to go get cigarettes, and then he kept saying something about a pier,” she recalled. Though the man was later cleared by authorities, Tucker remains suspicious.

She also confirmed that Anderson was taking his medication at the time. “He would never hurt himself, and he knows how to swim. So, there's no way. I think it's foul play,” she said.

Remembering Nicholas

Anderson’s stepfather, Trommell Henry, described him as a family-oriented person who always stayed in touch. “We needed him back home. We wanted him back home. Having family is truly the key,” he told CBS affiliate WANP.

His mother, Mary Anderson, revealed that her son struggled with mental health issues but said he wouldn’t have travelled without a reason. “I don’t see him just randomly picking this particular place to go to, to travel to. So I feel as though it was someone that he chose to meet there,” she said.

Mary also expressed disappointment over how the case was initially handled. “I thought no one cared about my missing Black boy,” she said. Remembering her son as someone who was “full of life,” she and other family members continue to seek answers and justice.
