A wave of fresh political tension materialized as US President Donald Trump, in an extended message on Truth Social, sharply denounced the leadership of Ukraine and America's European allies. His comments resurrected old arguments over blame, thankfulness and where the Russia-Ukraine war is headed, as reactions flared across the diplomatic world.

Trump's Accusations Against Kyiv

In a post, Trump wrote that Ukraine has shown "zero gratitude" for the support it has received from Washington since the full-scale invasion.

He suggested that American aid, military supplies and political backing have gone unappreciated and argued that Kyiv's leadership has failed to acknowledge the scale of US contributions. His statement added another layer to the long-running debate about how much the US should shoulder in the conflict.

Criticism of European Allies

Trump also criticized Europe for what he described as continued purchases of Russian oil while the United States provides weaponry and financing to NATO to help Ukraine.

He said that creates an unfair burden on Washington. The implicit message was that European states become free-riders on American resources without making their own economy less vulnerable to Moscow.

Claims of Preventing the War

The former president again repeated his long-stated belief that the conflict would never have erupted under what he called “strong and proper leadership.” He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin acted only after looking for weaknesses in the Biden administration.

Trump once again tied the current conflict to his allegations that the 2020 election was rigged, insisting that a different outcome would have deterred Moscow.

Framing the War as a Global Failure

While criticizing the leaders in Washington, Kyiv and Europe, Trump also described the war as a disaster for everyone involved. He further deplored the humanitarian toll, saying millions have paid the price for a conflict that should never have started.

His message concluded with a somber note, acknowledging the lives lost while framing the entire situation as a preventable tragedy.
