Trump Says Immigration ‘Killing’ Europe, Urges Nations to Stop ‘Invasion’

During his Scotland visit, Donald Trump warned Europe against unchecked immigration, claiming it could destroy the continent, and praised his own strict U.S. border policies.

In a trip to Scotland on Friday, US President Donald Trump delivered tough comments regarding immigration in Europe, warning that the continent would likely disappear if the current migration trend was not reversed.

Addressing journalists upon arrival at Prestwick airport in Ayrshire, Trump highlighted immigration as the greatest crisis facing Europe. Trump is in Scotland this weekend on a short visit and has a meeting planned with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Saturday.

"There are a couple of things I could say, but on immigration, you've got to get your act together. You won't have Europe anymore," Trump stated.

He proceeded to argue that the U.S. had entirely halted immigration during his presidency last month, but accused former President Joe Biden of having allowed the previous influx of migrants.

"Know, last month we had nobody coming into our country. We closed it down. We removed a lot of bad people that made it there when Biden…. Biden was a complete stiff when he let it occur. But you're letting it occur to your nations. And you've got to end this abysmal invasion...This immigration is destroying Europe," Trump continued.

Immigration Remains a Hot Topic in Europe

Trump's comments follow a time when several European countries are increasingly concerned about immigration. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer recently raised it in a key policy speech, warning that the country could become 'an island of strangers' unless it tightens up its borders.

Earlier this month, Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron unveiled a mutual migrant returns agreement, which the two leaders hope will reduce the number of small boat crossings on the English Channel.

Italy has also had a tough stance. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has repeatedly scorned the notion of Italy being 'Europe's refugee camp', echoing her government's strong opposition to mass migration.

Trump's remarks reopened debate concerning Europe's immigration policy, thrusting an international spotlight onto an already controversial situation on the continent.
