Cindy Rodriguez Singh, a Texas woman accused of killing her six-year-old son, has been arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed her arrest on Thursday.
She was wanted on state charges of capital murder and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. Cindy had been on the FBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list, with a reward of $250,000 announced for any information leading to her arrest.
In March 2023, Cindy boarded a flight to India with her husband, Arshdeep Singh, and their six children. However, her son Noel Alvarez was not with them. Authorities believe she lied about his whereabouts before fleeing.
Patel said in a statement on X, “Singh allegedly lied to authorities about his whereabouts, and then two days later, boarded a flight to India — and we believe he has not been back to the United States since.”
Noel Alvarez was last seen in October 2022. Shockingly, he was not reported missing until March 2023. When the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services ordered a welfare check, Cindy told police Noel was in Mexico with his biological father.

The FBI later revealed that this was a lie. Within 48 hours, Cindy had left the country, raising strong suspicion about her role in her son’s disappearance.
While the FBI did not disclose the exact location of Cindy’s arrest, Fox News reported that Indian authorities and INTERPOL helped track her down in India. She has now been deported back to the United States and will be handed over to Texas authorities.
Cindy faces trial for the capital murder of a child under 10 years of age.
After fleeing to India, Cindy was charged with capital murder in a Texas district court. By November 2023, an arrest warrant had been issued against her. With her capture, US officials say the case will now move forward.
The FBI described her actions as a deliberate attempt to mislead investigators and escape justice.

For now, Cindy Rodriguez Singh is back in US custody. Her trial is expected to begin soon, and prosecutors will push for the toughest punishment possible.
