
Storm Floris brings yellow warnings to eight Irish counties, with heavy rain, gusty winds, and potential power cuts expected early Monday, easing later in the day.
Met Éireann has issued a series of Status Yellow wind and rain alerts for eight counties ahead of Storm Floris, which is expected to strike early Monday morning with “very strong and blustery winds.”
The national forecaster warned of 'damaging gusty winds' that can lead to dangerous conditions like the falling of trees, structural damage. power outages and adverse driving conditions. Outdoor activies may also be impacted.
A Status Yellow wind warning will first be in effect for Clare, Galway, Mayo, and Sligo from 2am to 1pm on Monday. Separately, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, and Leitrim will face a wind warning starting at 4am, continuing until 4pm the same day.
Additionally, a rain warning has been issued from 2am to 10am on Monday for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo, with forecasters predicting “spells of heavy rain and a chance of thunder”. Localised flooding and lightning strikes are possible.
Storm Floris is expected to move across Ireland from the west overnight on Sunday, with the heaviest rainfall likely in the north and northwest. However, winds and rain will gradually ease by Monday evening, with daytime temperatures reaching highs of 16–22°C.
Before the arrival of the storm, Sunday will witness a mix of clouds, morning rain, etc. It will be followed by rain showers and temperature between 16-22°C.
