Ron DeSantis says Trump and Biden are “too old” for presidency

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis remarked in a jab at presidential frontrunners Donald Trump and Joe Biden that the presidency is “not a job for somebody who is pushing 80,” according to CNN.

DeSantis, who is presently trailing Donald Trump in the Republican primary, tried to contrast his youth with former President Donald Trump, 77, and President Joe Biden, 81, who turns 81 on Monday.”I just think that’s something that has been shown with Joe Biden,” DeSantis, 45, told CNN. Father Time is unbeatable. Donald Trump is not immune to any of this.” The Florida governor maintained that he is in his “prime of life,” stressing that if Trump were to become office in 2025, he would be older than Biden was at the start of his administration.

Notably, age has swiftly emerged as a prominent subject in the 2024 presidential election. According to CNN, Trump has insulted Biden and questioned his mental capacity for office as an integral element of his campaign.

DeSantis claimed that although Democrats are “going very easy” on Trump during the Republican race, this would alter if Trump were to win the GOP nominee.
“You will see scorched earth.” “All of this stuff from the past will be brought out,” he stated. “The whole election will end up being a referendum on Donald Trump, and Biden will be able to hang out in the basement, and I think he’ll be able to get away with it again,” DeSantis was cited by CNN as saying.

Meanwhile, despite declining poll numbers, DeSantis has maintained a brisk pace on the campaign road. He has attended eight public engagements in the last two days, and he resumed his tour across Iowa on Sunday.
