PM Modi Calls Putin; Reinforces The Dialogue To End Ukraine Conflict

Calling for communication and diplomacy “as the only way ahead” in the current battle between Russia and Ukraine, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.

The two leaders discussed several elements of their bilateral relationship after their meeting in Samarkand on the eve of the SCO Summit, including cooperation in the fields of energy, trade, investment, defense, and other crucial sectors.

In addition, PM Modi gave the Russian President a briefing on India’s current G-20 Presidency, emphasizing its top goals. He also anticipated collaboration between the two nations during India’s presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

In a September bilateral discussion outside the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Uzbekistan, Prime Minister Modi encouraged Russian President Vladimir Putin to put a stop to the conflict in Ukraine quickly, asserting that “today’s period is not of war.” Putin, for his part, assured Modi that Russia would use all available means to put an end to the situation in Ukraine as quickly as possible and that he was aware of India’s worries in this regard.
