
Japanese Ambassador Ono Keiichi hosted Rajasthan Deputy CM Diya Kumari in Delhi, serving matcha in traditional style, highlighting India-Japan cultural ties. Social media praised the warm, symbolic gesture of diplomacy.
The Japanese Ambassador to India, Ono Keiichi welcomed Rajasthan's Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari at his residence in the capital city on August 22, Friday. Keiichi gave a glimpse of his culture by dressing in a traditional Japanese attire and greeted the Deputy CM.
Ono led Diya Kumari into a tatami-matted room. The walls of the room were decorated with vertical calligraphy scrolls. Photos shared on his social media account captured Ono whisking matcha tea for the Deputy CM Diya.

He wrote, “Welcomed H.E. @KumariDiya, Deputy CM of Rajasthan, at my residence and served her freshly whisked #matcha, in the spirit of Chado – the Way of Tea. We shared a thoughtful conversation on boosting tourism between Japan and Rajasthan. May our cultural bridges grow ever stronger."
