Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday rang the bell to mark the listing of Lucknow Nagar Nigam bonds under the name Amrut scheme at the BSE, in Mumbai. After this, he met top honchos including businessmen and industrialists attended UP investor defence corridor meeting in the maximum city and met filmmakers in the view of upcoming film city in Uttar Pradesh.
While speaking to the media, Adityanath cleared the air by saying that Bollywood will work in Mumbai, but a new film city will be built in Uttar Pradesh. He said: “Nobody is taking anything away. It is not like a purse that gets taken away. This is an open competition. Whoever can give social security and a conducive atmosphere for working will get business. Bollywood will work in Mumbai, but a new film city will be built in UP. We will build a world-class film city with all facilities. I spoke to filmmakers and related people. We are not stealing any state’s investment.”
Earlier in the day, senior Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress leaders had reacted, saying no one can replicate or make another Bollywood or take away Bollywood from Mumbai. A few NCP leaders and workers protested outside the Trident hotel (where Adityanath had put up) in Nariman Point, against his move of “making other Bollywood”.
Adityanath`s dream project, spread over six districts, aims to make Uttar Pradesh a defence production hub. He also welcomed investors to UP, promised security and a conducive environment for business in Uttar Pradesh. Reacting to this, Mahesh Tapase, chief spokesperson of the NCP, a part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state, asked the UP CM to first curtail crime in Uttar Pradesh and then call investors.
