Reacting to his party’s defeat in the bypoll to the Dubbaka Assembly seat, Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s (TRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao said that the loss would not demoralise the ruling party but had “alerted” it.

The BJP has won the Dubbaka seat from TRS by a margin of over 1,000 votes. Rama Rao said that the TRS would neither be arrogant in victory nor demoralised by defeat.

KTR, as the minister is popularly known, said the result in Dubbaka was not to the expectations of the party. “We will analyse the reasons for the defeat and move ahead,” he said.

The TRS leader, who is the son of TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, said that the party will move closer to people with developmental and other welfare programmes.

KTR thanked the people who voted for TRS, apart from party leaders, workers and public representatives who worked for the party’s cause in Dubbaka.

Meanwhile, TRS leader and Finance Minister T. Harish Rao has owned the responsibility of the party’s defeat.

Harish Rao, who is a nephew of Chandrasekhar Rao, told reporters that despite the defeat, TRS will continue to work for the welfare of people and the development of Dubbaka.

Harish Rao, who had single-handedly conducted the party’s campaign in Dubbak, said the party will discuss and analyse the reasons for the loss.
