Women’s under-17 assistant football coach Alex Ambrose sacked for alleged sexual misconduct

Former India international Alex Ambrose who has been charged with allegations of sexual misconduct was sacked from his position as assistant coach of the Indian Under-17 women’s football team.  The allegations were labelled by an unnamed player of the youth team during the squad’s preparation stint in Italy and Norway for the upcoming Under-17 World Cup which will be played in India in October across three different venues namely Bhubaneshwar, Margao & Navi Mumbai.

Ambrose who plied his trade in the I-League for Mumbai FC who returned to India midway through the preparatory camp on AIFF’s diktat was placed under provisional suspension by the governing body of football in India.

Without naming the coach, AIFF Acknowledged the incident and made it public through a media release. While the governing body of football in the country refrained from revealing the identity of the player, speculations were ripe and the murmurs grew loud that the unnamed person was indeed Ambrose.

“An event of misconduct has been reported in the U-17 women’s team, currently on an exposure tour to Europe. The AIFF follows a zero-tolerance policy on indiscipline. As an initial action, the Federation has provisionally suspended the individual pending further investigation,” the statement read. But now as it stands, he has been sacked by the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Arbitrators (COA) tasked with running the daily affairs of AIFF till the federation conducts fresh elections and elect new office bearers. COA had earlier placed him under provisional suspension.

“Alex Ambrose, Assistant head coach of Under 17 women’s team has been sacked for sexual misconduct. Further action under process,” Dr. S.Y Quraishi, a key member of the COA said on microblogging site Twitter.

Talking to the Daily Guardian, Dr Quraishi said that apart from the disciplinary action, legal action will also be taken against Ambrose. “Yes, definitely we will be taking legal action against him. We are still in the process of finalising the process and understanding the pros and cons of the situation. Once we have ironed few things, that is by tonight or tomorrow morning we will soon be filing an FIR with the police,” Dr. Quraishi told this newspaper over telephone.

Talking about the internal committee which will be conducting a probe on it own as well, the former Chief Election Commissioner of India said, “We already have a committee in place and have requested some other expert as well to join us on this as it will make the committee more strong.”

When quizzed if any special counselling session has been arranged for the members of the squad as the incident could be harrowing for them, Dr. Quraishi said, “No we have not done that yet. The players are still training abroad and once they are back, we will have a proper and thorough discussion with the players.”

The trouble for Ambrose meanwhile does not end here as the All India Federation of Coaches has decided to strip him of core team membership and all associated posts.

“In light of the recent condemnable incident that happened in the IndiaU-17 Women›s National Team, The Association of Indian Football Coaches (AIFC)has come to a unanimous decision to strip Alex Ambrose of the core team membership and all associated posts,” AIFC announced through a social media statement.

The Members Associations (AIFF) also took condemned the incident and has requested the COA and AIFF administrators to conduct an independent inquiry as well file an FIR.

“State associations would like to recommend stringent action including legal and exemplary punishment with a life ban from football and even cancelling his coaching licenses,” Members Associations’ said in a statement.

BJP parliamentary board revamped, Yediyurappa, Sonowal inducted

BS Yediyurappa

JP Nadda, the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), reorganised the party’s parliamentary board on Wednesday by appointing former chief minister of Karnataka BS Yediyurappa, federal minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and former minister Satyanarayan Jatiya.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, and former BJP president Nitin Gadkari have been removed off the board. When the parliamentary board was formed by the then-president Amit Shah in August 2014, Chouhan was the last BJP leader to be elected to the top panel of the party.

The decision to reorganise the parliamentary board was anticipated, especially in light of the five vacancies that have developed in the body’s 11 members starting in 2017, when board member M Venkaiah Naidu was elevated to vice president of the nation. Three significant party leaders passed away over the subsequent two years, Ananth Kumar in 2018, Arun Jaitley in 2019, and Sushma Swaraj in 2019. As a result, there were more vacancies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP Chief JP Nadda, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Other Backward Classes (OBC) Morcha President K Laxman, National Commission for Minorities Chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpura, former BJP vice president Sudha Yadav, and former minister Satyanarayan Jatiya make up the new 11-member board in addition to Yediyurappa and Sonowal.

The parliamentary board has the authority to monitor and control party legislative and parliamentary activities, direct the creation of ministries, and control all organisational units that are subordinate to the national executive. Additionally, it has the authority to take necessary action in response to any violation of discipline by members or office holders of state units.

The party’s central electoral committee was also reconstituted by Nadda. Currently, the 15-member board is made up of PM Modi, JP Nadda, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Sarbananda Sonowal, BS Yediyurappa, K Laxman, Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Sudha Yadav, Om Mathur, BL Santhosh, Satyanarayan Jatiya, Bhupendra Yadav, Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis

Former Union minister Jual Oram and Shahnawaz Hussain are not the part of central eelection committee anymore.

Are you anxious ?

There are days when you wake up to a sombre morning feeling disheartened, drenched in despair and uncertainty. It gets difficult to deal with incomprehensible situations and the difficulties of life, consequently leading to a bleak aura. The cynical approach and the proclivity to belittle our existence result in emotional instability. We often have to deal with situations where life takes a bizarre turn, which is the exact opposite of what we expected or something strong enough to break us emotionally.

Is there any ideal way to deal with that small pain of anxiety in your chest? What is the way to resolve discontent? It would have been so much easier if there were medications or a list of pharmacopeia to alleviate the entire emotional turmoil.

Growing up in an environment where mental health and emotional stability have always been trivialised and overlooked makes it difficult for us to communicate ourselves or even seek help.

Perhaps the pharmaceuticals cannot help us out, but a perspective shift could. A small shift from a tangled thought process to a positive perspective can bring a considerable change into our lives.

In the words of Robert Browning, “Fail I alone, in words and deeds? Why, all men strive and who succeeds? ” We tend to measure our capabilities and achievements on the pretext of the conventional standards we have been fed since childhood, but why can’t it be different? The aforesaid lines of the poet are to teach us to look beyond the social directions and make ourselves understand that the path of success can be different for every individual. There can be certain instances like a person working hard to get materialistic comforts while another person defies all those materialistic comforts in order to be happy. We should not allow societal regulations to limit our potential.

Dealing with anxiety often seems far-fetched, but there are solutions to it. Workout or exercise is a perfect way to combat indolence and be productive. Physical activity produces Endorphins and dopamine, also called happy hormones, and is a perfect antidote to stress.

Manifestation is yet another remedy played down. When Paulo Coelho said, “And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it,” he was talking about manifestation. This might sound spurious, but a belief in the process and a belief in oneself is magical.

Life has yet to go, things are yet to happen, this is just a bend, this isn’t the end.

Telangana CM KCR slams BJP; advises people not to fall prey to BJP’s policies

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and advises people not to fall prey to BJP’s policies.

Earlier on Tuesday KCR inaugurated the District Collectorate office in Vikarabad.

“There is a need to protect Telangana so that the foxes do not come and eat it again. We need to see if it does not go back to the old system. We cannot let the conditions deteriorate again, and do not fall prey to their political interests. I fought for 14 years during the agitation. I went to the brink of death and achieved this state. We are implementing many welfare schemes. All these schemes should continue. Industries, IT, and agriculture should be advanced,” KCR said.

Speaking on the occasion KCR said, “Those at the Centre say that what we give are freebies. Some people with flags blocked my bus. What did they get done? Has BJP done any good for 8 years? People should discuss it. If we do not have a politically conscious society, we will be robbed. We were crushed in the hands of the united rulers. Farmers ate curd rice and died after consuming pesticides back then. We have to be vigilant and see those days do not come again.”

Meanwhile, attacking BJP KCR said no one has benefited from the central government.

“If you are fooled by the BJP flag, they will put meters for electricity in the fields and fill the bellies of big people. Should not the electricity in fields be given for free? Gas and petrol prices have increased. Banks are being robbed. Lakhs of crores of rupees have been looted,” KCR alleged.
