MEANING OF THE WORD ‘RESPONSIBILITY’

People get irritated by those who are not able to own up to their responsibilities without realizing that they themselves could have neglected certain aspects of being responsible in their lives too.
Responsibility is not just picking up the kids on time, or reporting to work or picking up the the dirty towel from the floor and putting in the washer.
Those are chores that will come about complete from the awareness of a being who has become responsible about his or her actions and thoughts which are going on inside the mind.
I love these words  of Stephen Covey who says :
Look at the word responsibility- response-ability;-the ability to choose your response. Highly proactive people recognize that responsibility. They do not blame circumstances, conditions, or conditioning for their behavior. Their behavior is a product of their own conscious choice, based on values, rather than a product of their conditions, based on feeling.
We get agitated with the words of others, unprecedented circumstances, disappointments and then react abruptly only to repent later "Haye I wish I responded in a different way instead of reacting in an immature way.
The more meditative we become, the more responsive we will be. Even while having a conversation with someone, we will be to observe our breathing, our sense of presence and then choose to respond in the right manner.
It’s amazing quality to be responsible.
