Mrs Mahalakshmi Subramani, President, Defence Wives Welfare Association (DWWA), interacted with trainees of the first Mahila Commando Conversion Course (MCCC-01) at the NSG Training Academy, Manesar, and encouraged them to approach the pioneering 12-week training with courage, discipline and an unwavering focus on professional excellence.
Addressing the women personnel, she described their selection for the demanding course as a matter of distinction and urged them to recognise the responsibility associated with being chosen for the commando conversion programme. Drawing on her experience of over three decades of military life, she told the trainees that they were not merely completing another course but preparing to “win another uniform” through exceptional physical fitness, mental resilience and professional competence.
Mrs Mahalakshmi Subramani highlighted the demanding nature of the training, describing its two modules as a process that would first “filter” trainees through rigorous standards and subsequently “transform” them into professionals capable of meeting commando-level requirements.
She advised the trainees to protect their focus from external commentary, comparisons and social-media pressure, stressing that the academy’s sole benchmark was the “Commando Standard”—demanding, gender-neutral and uncompromising.
Emphasising teamwork and the buddy system, she urged the trainees to support one another throughout the course. She also stressed the value of maintaining a good state of mind, body and spirit through breathing exercises, stretching, reflection and journaling.
As she concluded her interaction, she hailed “Mahila Power” as mission ready, fearless, resilient and always ready for duty and assured the trainees, “Hamara saath hamesha aapke saath hai.”
