A 40-year-old woman was allegedly raped by three men in a government school premises where she was kept during lockdown in Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur district. All three accused have been arrested and produced before a court, the police informed. The woman, originally from Ajmer, had come to Dausa to meet her son who was lodged in a jail there, on 23 March, just a few days before the nationwide lockdown was announced to fight Covid-19. Once the lockdown was imposed, she was stuck in Sawai Madhopur for almost a month. Desperate to go home, she decided to walk to her native place. According to the police, the woman lost her way and reached Berkhandi village in Sawai Madhopur district where the authorities put her in a school after finding her outside.

The incident reportedly took place on Thursday night around 2 am when three men reportedly entered the school she was lodged in and gang-raped her. A case has been registered against the accused on the basis of a complaint lodged by the woman on Friday. The accused, identified as Rishikesh Meena, Lakhan Regar and Kamal Kharwal, have been arrested and produced before a court, Deputy Superintendent of Police Parth Sharma said. He also said medical examination of the woman was conducted and her statement recorded. The woman has been sent to another quarantine facility as of now.
