With drop in Covid-19 cases, the tourism department in Jammu and Kashmir is busy in the ongoing vaccination camps being organised for the tourism sector employees and other such people so that in future they could be ready to host tourists.

Commissioner/Secretary, Tourism, Sarmad Hafeez told The Daily Guardian that he held a meeting on Thursday and said that they were ready to host tourists if the Covid wave recedes. He said that travel agents are getting quarries and expressed hope that in the coming weeks the tourism traffic will pick up as the Valley is ready to host the tourists if the situation improves further.

He expressed hope that Kashmir will see a good tourist season as the Covid situation is improving with each passing day. He said that the government of Jammu and Kashmir has been proactively vaccinating all the people who are connected with tourist trade so that there is minimum risk if the season picks up in coming weeks.

Earlier, Director, Tourism, G.N. Itoo told reporters in Srinagar that they have achieved the target of around 80% vaccination for the people who are connected with tourist trade.
